Mark Carrier Sweeps Top Honors at 48th Annual Jr. Angler Tournament

STUART, FLORIDA — July 28, 2026 — The Stuart Sailfish Club wrapped its 48th Annual Junior Angler Tournament on July 17–18, welcoming seven boats and 19 junior anglers to the water for two days of competition in the Sailfish Capital of the World.

The tournament kicked off Friday night with a captain's meeting and kickoff party at the SSC Tiki Hut in Stuart, Florida. Boats ran offshore Saturday morning under clear skies and warm summer conditions, with temperatures climbing from around 82°F at the start of the day to a high near 92°F by mid-afternoon. Conditions held mostly sunny through the fishing day, and boats returned to the weigh station in the afternoon ahead of the Awards Reception Saturday evening.

Mark Carrier Leads a Standout Field

Mark Carrier turned in the tournament of the weekend, taking Top Male Angler, Most Fish Caught, and First Sailfish Release, and adding a third-place finish in the Heaviest Mahi category to round out the day.

Layla Reichold matched him on the female side with a strong three-award weekend: Top Female Angler, Largest Fish, and First Place Heaviest Cobia. Jason Magee took home a pair of tournament awards – First Place Heaviest Mahi and Third Place Heaviest Bonita – and Jack Gelineau was recognized twice, for landing his First Sailfish and for placing Third in Sailfish Releases.
