Leadership

The Stuart Sailfish Club Board of Directors

From long-standing board members to passionate volunteers, the people behind the Stuart Sailfish Club bring a deep love for the water and a shared commitment to service. Their leadership helps guide the club’s mission, events, and community programs year after year.

Jim Garrity

President

Jim Garrity has called Stuart home since 1984, when he arrived to attend Florida Institute of Technology in Jensen Beach and launched his career as a charter captain at Pirates Cove — running the Sandancer and later spending more than a decade at the helm of the Pat Sea VI, chasing billfish across the Atlantic and Pacific and introducing countless anglers to their first release. He later transitioned to the technology solutions industry, where he founded and led several highly successful companies. Through every chapter, the Stuart Sailfish Club has held a special place in his life — as a mate, captain, angler, and owner — and he now considers it a privilege to help lead an organization so deeply woven into Stuart's sportfishing legacy. Today, Jim lives in Stuart and enjoys time on the water aboard his 34' SeaVee, Parts & Labor.

Chip Kenney

Treasurer

Chip joined the board in 2020 and brings over 35 years of tournament fishing experience. Raised on Cape Cod in a family-run charter operation, he’s chased giant bluefin tuna and billfish across the East Coast, Bahamas, and Costa Rica. As an IGFTO tournament observer and proud mentor to junior anglers, Chip is dedicated to passing on fishing knowledge across generations.

Mark MacDonald

Board Member

Mark has been involved with the Stuart Sailfish Club since childhood and is one of the few members to win the Club’s prestigious Light Tackle Tournament. A licensed 50-Ton Master Captain, he has fished extensively throughout Florida, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. Mark works in large aircraft hangar door construction and lives in Stuart with his wife. They have two grown children starting families of their own.

Samantha Salerno

Board Member

Originally from Arizona, Samantha moved to Stuart in 2018 and quickly fell in love with the offshore lifestyle. A passionate angler and Montessori teacher, she’s often found behind the bar at the club or helping organize fishing education events. Samantha is committed to keeping the club’s mission alive for future generations.
